Back to School News
The opening weeks of school at Bluff are off to a great start! Students are working on knowing and understanding school wide expectations in the classroom and across settings in the school. During the first week of school, all students attended a Back to School assembly where they practiced what it means to be a respectful and responsible audience member. The assembly kicked off with our school chant, “We are… Bluuuuuufff Tigers, that’s who we are, Bluff Tigers, that’s who we are. We stand up tall and we stand up proud. We stand up tall and we stand up proud.” (repeat). Ask your child to share it with you at home. In addition Bluff students and staff practiced its first fire drill of the year this week. Everyone did a terrific job of exiting the building in an orderly fashion!
Students are also busy working on beginning of the year assessments. One assessment the Claremont School District utilizes is iReady in grades K-5. i-Ready is an online program for reading and mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s opportunities for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s instructional priorities. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. Results will be shared with families during first quarter conferences.
Important upcoming dates and events at Bluff:
Monday, October 2nd- PTO Meeting, 5:30 - 6:30 pm at Bluff. Typically the 2nd Monday of each month, but bumped up a week due to the holiday. All families are welcome to attend!
Wednesday, October 4th- Picture Day!
Thursday, October 5th- Open House, 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Monday, October 16th - Monday, November 6th- Bluff PTO is having its first fundraiser of the year with Meadow Farms. Ordering information will be coming home soon!
